GADAG monitoring scheme covers the :

  • inventory of local communities
  • measuring of climatic parameters
  • detection of cryptic variation (use of molecular techniques);
  • ecological characterisation of species
  • selection of suitable species and populations for a long-term monitoring
  • measuring and monitoring amphibian diversity along transects of changes in climate and land use (geographical transects; analysis of the interference of local and anthropogenic factors)

Two facets of GADAG are already implemented in the BIOLOG program (= Biodiversity and Global Change) of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research: Ivory Coast in West Africa, and Kakamega Forest in Kenya). We are current trying to establish one or two monitoring projects in SE Asia and Australasia. The already started projects will allow for an optimal selection of methodological standards. Synergies will locally emerge through the establishment and use of biodiversity observatories and through comparative data analysis from other taxa, allowing insight in functional aspects of ecosystems. To guarantee this and al-though focusing on amphibians, GADAG always tries to introduce scientist that work in other fields of flora and fauna monitoring.

It is policy of GADAG to co-operate with governmental authorities and qualified NGOs wherever possible. Data on amphibian diversity will be available for local and regional conservation purpose (e.g., planing of conservation acts, management of national parks). Training of local people is inevitable for a long-lasting monitoring program. In this context GADAG will contribute to the preservation and sustainable use of wild live resources in its host countries.

 

A NEW RESEARCH ON GARCINIA CAMBOGIA

Garcinia Cambogia fruit extract becoming the talk because it is believed to have the ability to lose weight significantly. This fruit can speed up the diet and has been proven to be successful. Complete research and study about Garcinia Cambogia have been conducted for years in order to provide an alternative for the people who want to overcome a weight problem.

Garcinia Cambogia - The Definition

Garcinia Cambogia is a fruit native to Indonesia. In Sumatra, the fruit is more widely grown and commonly called by the name Asam Gelugur. Garcinia Cambogia grows in tropical to subtropical regions, including Indonesia. The fruit has pumpkin-look with smaller size. It color is green, and if the fruit is cut it will look like the mangosteen on the inside.

This fruit is commonly used as a spice in cooking to add a sour taste, besides the fruit has also been used as a medicine since antiquity. Garcinia Cambogia fruit peel extract contains Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA), which has the ability to give a feeling of fullness to those who consume them. The Hydroxycitric Acid can also inhibit the absorption of fat and suppress appetite. Because it has the material, the Garcinia Cambogia began to be used as an herbal supplement for weight loss.

Research on the Garcinia Cambogia from Biomedical Scientist

The main components in the fruit Garcinia Cambogia is hydroxycitric acid that is proven safe and effective through research that has been done for years. Several researchers have conducted research related to this fruit. Research conducted by the Biomedical Scientist in 2006 carry out a comparative study on 42 adults who experience a decrease in body weight of about 3.7 kg after consuming 1.2 grams of hydroxycitric acid for 12 weeks.

Alternative Medicine Review in 2008 carried out tests on 89 women over weight to provide 2.4 grams of extract of Garcinia Cambogia for 3 months. This study showed a weight loss of 1.3 kg. By referring to the research, various manufactures start to produce a garcinia cambogia for sale in many countries around the world.

Dieting American Journal also did a research for 2 weeks with the results of the weight loss of 3 kg, and waist circumference reduced by about 2.5-3 inches. With the research done, this proves that the use of Garcinia Cambogia is able to assist weight loss followed by a significant reduction in waist circumference, blood fats and blood sugar.
